VOTE and I Could Send You an Amazon Gift Card!

Hey friends!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been feeling pretty discouraged about the state of our democracy. The level of disregard for human life, for suffering, and for our civil rights is sickening. It almost makes you want to curl up and hide. But you can’t. I can’t.

The leaders of our country want to grab as much power as they can get their grubby, tiny hands on. They know we think they’re awful. They know that we find them deplorable. Our president mocks our pain, takes our health care, declares his love for evil dictators, and lies without remorse. Just this week he blamed the Jewish victims of a hate-filled blood bath for not having an armed guard at their place of worship. He whined that the attempted murder of at least 12 of his “enemies,” including two former presidents, had dampened the Republican momentum in the midterms.

Election Day is November 6, 2018! Early voting has already started in many states! If you don’t know when or where to vote, click here!

His enablers in Congress and state houses wag their fingers for a brief moment, then go right back to enabling him.

Our Constitution has a prescription for times like these. It’s called an election. This year, it is more important than ever for you to get out and vote. The power hungry deplorables are counting on you to curl up and hide. If you do that, they’ll get to keep their power.

Despite the fact that we have more young people who are eligible to vote this year than at any time in our country’s history, the “experts” say not to count on youth. In fact, according to a recent NBC News poll, only 55 percent of Millennials say they plan on voting. Women, LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, immigrants, parents, children, low income people, disabled people, and basically every American who might need to see a doctor at some point are all at risk of having their rights trampled if we let them.

Decisions are made by the people who show up. So I want you to show up.

I know that some of you have obstacles to voting. Maybe you work two jobs and you can’t afford to take time off of work. Maybe you don’t have transportation to the polls, or anyone to watch your kids while you vote. So I’m proposing a contest. It’s a small thing, and I know it won’t solve every problem, but here’s what I’m offering for one winner.

  • A $25 Amazon gift card.
  • A free banner ad on my site for your business or blog (if you have one).
  • A giant THANK YOU to you posted on all my social media.

Here’s what you have to do to enter:

  • VOTE at your local polling place. (Absentee, early, on Election Day, whatever. Any accepted form of voting counts.)
  • Take a selfie with your “I voted” sticker, your absentee ballot with the choices blurred out, or whatever else you can think of that represents your vote. Share your your voting selfie in my blog, Facebook, or Twitter comments.
  • Fill out the form below for my mailing list and check off “I voted!” (This is only to make it easier for me to keep track of entries. You are free to unsubscribe any time. ALSO, please do this even if you are already on my list. It will just help me keep track of everyone who entered.)
  • SHARE this contest on social media and encourage all of your friends to vote!
  • NOTE: You don’t have to tell me who you voted for. Your vote is your choice. I just want you to VOTE!

Here’s how you can earn extra points:

  • Find at least 1 person in your social circle who wasn’t planning on voting and take them with you to the polls.
  • Help someone vote who would have a hard time getting there otherwise. (ie. Give them a ride, offer to babysit, etc.)

*Note: Anyone eligible to vote in the 2018 US midterm elections is eligible to enter. You do not have to vote for a particular candidate to enter. 1. Your enthusiast post in the face of utter darkness, should be enough to jar any still lethargic non-voter. Adding Amazon gift card and a sincere ‘thank you’ from you to boot, demonstrates the all or none situation America is in. Good for you for being a positive contributor.
